Types of Deviant Behavior
Types of Deviant Behavior
According to Robert M.Z. Lawang, deviant behavior can be classified into four types, namely criminal or criminal acts, sexual deviations, deviations in the form of excessive use or consumption, and irregularities in lifestyle (lifestyle).
a. Criminal or Crime Acts
Criminal action is a form of deviation committed by a person or group against the values and norms or rules of legislation applicable in society. We recognize two types of crimes as listed in the Criminal Code, namely violent offenses and property offenses.
1) Violent offenses or crimes accompanied by violence to others, such as murder, torture, rape, and so forth. 2) Property offenses or crimes involving the property of others, such as deprivation, non-violent theft, and so forth. Meanwhile, Light, Keller, and Callhoun in his book Sociology (1989) distinguish crimes into four types, namely crime without victim, organized crime, white collar crime, and corporate crime.
1) White Collar Crime (White Collar Crime)
This crime refers to a crime committed by a respected or high-status person in terms of his work. For example tax evasion, embezzlement of corporate money, the manipulation of a company's financial data (corruption), and so forth.
2) Crime Without Victim (Crime Without Victim)
Crime does not result in the suffering of the victim directly due to the crime committed. Examples of gambling, drunkenness, and illegal sex are voluntary.
3) Organized Crime (Organized Crime)
This crime is done in an organized and continuous manner by using various ways to get something desired (biasaya more to the material) by avoiding the law. Examples are providers of prostitution, stolen goods, trafficking of women abroad for sexual commodities, and so forth.
4) Corporate Crime (Corporate Crime)
This crime is committed in the name of a formal organization with the aim of raising profits and suppressing losses. Furthermore, Light, Keller, and Callhoun divide this type of corporate crime into four, which are crimes against consumers, crimes against the public, crimes against company owners, and crimes against employees.
b. Sexual Diversity
Sexual divergence is a sexual behavior that is not commonly practiced by the community. As for some types of this behavior among them is as follows.
1) Adultery, that is sex outside of marriage.
2) Homosexual, that is sex with same sex. Homosexuality is distinguished over lesbians and homosexuals. Lesbian is a term for women who have sex with fellow women, while homosexual is a term for men who have sexual relations with other men.
3) Gather kebo, ie living together like husband and wife, but without any marriage bond.
4) Sadomasochist, the satisfaction of sexual appetite by torturing his partner.
5) Paedophilia, which satisfies sexual desires that are ventilated to small children.
6) Sodomy, ie sexual intercourse performed through the anus or rectum.
7) Gerontophilia, ie sexual intercourse done with elderly people.
c. Deviation in Excessive Use or Consumption
These irregularities are usually identified with the use and distribution of drugs or drugs and alcoholism. This is more common in adolescents because of their unstable emotional development and tend to want to try and have a great sense of curiosity towards a thing.
According to Dr. Graham Baliane (Kartini Kartono, 1992) young people or teenagers more easily fall into the use of narcotics due to factors as follows.
1) Want to prove his courage in doing dangerous actions.
2) Want to show opposing actions against authoritarian parents.
3) Want to break away from loneliness and gain emotional experience.
4) Want to find and discover the meaning of life.
5) Want to fill the void and boredom.
6) Want to eliminate anxiety.
7) Solidarity among friends.
Excessive use of illegal drugs and alcohol is prohibited by law because it can encourage other criminal acts. In addition to endangering yourself and others. Danger to yourself, among others, can damage the organs of the body, so it does not function perfectly, even the nervous system that functions as the controller of thought is also destroyed. The result can not think rationally and tend to do acts that deviate from the values and norms prevailing in society.
